My step-mom has had one for ten years with no problems. A month ago they decided it was time to replace it so I took her to the hospital, they cut it out, put a new one in, made a couple of stitches and she was good to go. She was awake the whole time they replaced it. When they told us we could go see her in her room after the surgery she was dressed and paceing the floor, ready to be checked out. They brought her lunch so she ate it down, we checked out and went home. She will be 89 next month. Jim
