Look on the highest point that accesses the crankcase. On Fords, the Oil fill cap is right up front behind the fan and very accessible. If suffering from the "not run enough in cold weather syndrome", the underside of the cap will be milky colored......water that has condensed on the oil and sort of emulsified.....yeah I know water and oil don't mix, but under the cap it makes a grayish goo.
When I was a kid, everything was 2 miles or less so the auto engines didn't have time to get warmed and you had the same thing in the winter.....course non-detergent oil, only thing available before HD oil cam into being, didn't help either.
