Some younger posters here dissagree but the dt 239 ih Engines were know for getting dependent on either or starting fluid IF you eve gave them very much you would just have to keep putting it to them to start even in decent weather..what would happen si the top rings would go and compression would drop just enough that starting without either was almost impossible but would run once cranked.. My experience
