They where hard starting tractors that held up fairly well. I always thought they where under powered for a cab and Quad range. They really never had any major issues with them.
As for value they are not the highest priced seller around. Even in todays hot market they usually will not bring much over 10K with a cab and good paint. An open station synco range can be bought for less than $7500.
For a tractor to use they would be a better buy than a JD 4020. You get a wet clutch and live charge pump. These where both a big step up over the JD 4020. Even though the JD 4020 will out sell a JD 4230.
