Nephew works at a body shop that specializes in BMW's, so he buys totals and rebuilds them in his shop at home. He did a 5 series for his dad. Dad takes it to State Patrol to be inspected. Didn't have Bills of Sale for hood and one front fender. Gotta have bills of sale for all "major components".
So they bought some real cheap repops from China- didn't fit right, were in black primer (rest of the car was perfect). Took it back to State Patrol- same guy inspecting. Passed it this time, and said, with a wink, "Bet your son will have this thing looking perfect in less than an hour." BIL smiled and agreed.
