I have shipped lots of motorcycle frames that way.All using UPS. last time the guy at the shipping place was measuring for a box when I asked what he was doing he said "you can't ship it just like this" I told him he already did it for me in the past and was not a problem. He told me to leave my number in case UPS didn't take it. They shipped it. You can't have anything unsafe or sharp edged hanging off the part but as long as you have a cardboard label they will take the part and ship it.
