yeah...i've run across more than my fair share of them kinda jokes...one that sticks out in my mind is a clanking noise in a new '82 town car i got stuck with figuring out...after going thru every possible option it finally showed up inside the drive shaft...after cutting the end off the shaft a 1/2x9/16" box end wrench fell out with a note attached to it...note said "you finally found that FFFF' n noise didnt ya" i'm still huntin that sob!
