I'm not familiar with a 400 but on a VAC there is a vent on the cylinder or actually the rock-shaft housing that vented the area under the piston. If it's venting oil it's an indication of O-ring leakage. Does it hold up OK or does it leak down? Just my $1 worth.(Two cents adjusted for inflation.)
