Money wise, you're better off hiring a truck. Convenience wise, it's nice to have something like that to haul small amounts in a pinch.
The farmers around here who used goosenecks to do constant grain hauling ended up spending more money on engines, trannys, transfer cases and tires than they would have if they hired it out. Oh, did I mention fuel? And the DOT is really pestering those kind of trailers today. They pass up a big rig to stop a farmer with his gooseneck. I'd pull the wagon to the local feed mill with a tractor first if it's on sparcely traveled roads. The tractor is made for pulling a load and the Dot will pass you by as long as you have flashing lights and a SMV sign. Jim
