All this talk about taxing the rich, making them pay their fair share, etc. Do people really think this extra taxing is going to stop with income taxes? Think of a guy who has a small farm in good farm country somewhere - say 200 acres. Now at $7000 per acre which I hear good land is going for in some places that land is worth $1.4 million. There are a lot of people who look at the small farmer and all they see is that he is a rich man. And between income taxes and property taxes they will come collecting from him till they break him. Look at what happened to the great land owners during the French, Russian, Chinese, even Cuban revolutions. Those big private holdings were broken up and given to the "the people". Once we go down that slope of taxing the rich we are in for a huge assult on private property. Even the little pittance of land I own makes me look wealthy to some person who has nothing. This class envy and tax the rich business is scaring the hell out of me.
