What I have found is if I cover the intake end with a shop towel it runs fine and never misses a lick.. plus, it's a tad quieter this way. My issues started after the rear "grill" got broken, but never associated that as my issue.
I have now put in new lines, all filters changed, vane pump cleaned up, nozzle cleaned up, fuel tank cleaned and flushed only to have it not start unless the "hood" was opened.. As soon as i closed the hood down, within minutes it would quit and smoke you out.. (and trust me, I was getting fuel.. it would drip out the front while trying to gt it run again).. Oh, and fuel pressure set to manual specifications.
Tried the shop towel on the intake, as just a hunch, and have ran 3 tanks of fuel through it this winter so far, don't miss a beat now.. starts right up, every time, and stays running until the thermostat or I turn it off.
