About a year ago I went looking for a camera to replace my Canon A1100IS that crapped out due to abuse. I couldn't find anything with a viewfinder. I find cameras without viewfinders to be next to useless. They're very hard to use in bright sunlight, and it's impossible to track a fast-moving target without a viewfinder.
I would go ahead and buy a digital SLR, but a camera isn't much good if you don't have it when you need it. I'm tempted to buy another A1100IS, (new ones are still available online), but I'm fed up with Canon and the dreaded "lens error".
