Most newer compact digital cameras don't have the peep hole anymore. Try using one, you really don't need the peep hole. The video screens eat batteries, extra rechargable batteries and a fast class 4 or higher memory card help a lot. They are both around $6 to $15 on Amazon.com.
Most camera manufacturer's have a support section on their website that allows you to download owner's manuals of their current products and their older discontinued products going back ten years and more. That makes it very easy to to compare specifications and check if a specific model has the features you want.
Kodak shirt pocket cameras have worked well for me, a 2 year old M530 (no peep sight) and a ten year old DX4330 (larger with a peep sight). Kodak just filed for bankruptcy.
For better quality pictures I use a five year Pentax K10D Digital SLR because it can use any PK/A mount lens made from the mid-1980's to today. High quality used PK/A lenses sell for $15 to $50 in camera shops and ebay.
