Fuel use in the US has dropped every year since 2006 due to increased fuel economy, increased fuel prices and bad economy. They want to send it to Texas so it can be refined at existing refineries and exported. We already have the refining capacity due to decreased domestic demand. We import more CRUDE oil than anybody else in the world but Fuel (refined crude) is now our biggest export. In 2011, U.S. refiners exported 117 million gallons per day of gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and other petroleum products, up from 40 million gallons per day a decade earlier. Refiners are getting more for fuel sold overseas than in the US so they are selling essentially to the highest bidder. It keeps fuel supplies tighter in the US and therefore keeps prices higher for us. Not a fan of this administration but this is about corporations trying to make money. Thats what corporations do.
