I'm in no-til country, and we use a no-til coulter ahead of the planter openers on the main frame of the planter. It does any ripping necessary. We burn down the trash with gramoxone and use Bicep or an equivalent to control the weeds for the summer. 2-4D can be used to 'sweeten' the gramoxone action, as can Banvel pre-emerge. Most of the fertilizer is spun on, and a liqoud nitrogen carrier is used for the rest of the 'N' and to carry the gramoxone and Bicep. We may also do a postemerge to control any outbreaks of other weeds, so we use RR corn to be able to control pests like Johnsongrass and Canada thistle.
