Id worry if the bar was burned and pitted, even if cleaned up, things may never be the same and even with a new breaker things might deteriorate. But in the meantime if contact areas are cleaned up and theres no resistive carbon and with a new tighter fitting breaker IT MAY BE OKAY?? and if so it wasnt all that hard or expensive to fix
However if the problem repeats it may just take a new panel or repair the old one.
As I and other previously discussed, "loose connections" can lead to heat and burning and arcing and carbon all of which take their toll and then breakers can get hot etc and trips can occur.
Id just give it a try now n see what happens with the new breaker and things cleaned up if it were mine.
