The tire centers at big box stores are mainly there to mount the tires they sell at that store. Did you stop at the big box store instead of an Ag Co-op or a full service tire store to save a few bucks or to save some driving?
The kid that works at the big box store probably makes less than $8 per hour and has less than a days training. You brought him a pair of worn-out difficult to mount 10 ply tires (265x75x16's are 10 inches wide?) that he never sold, to mount on undersized (5 inch?) wide rims that the tires were never intended to fit on, and then you got mad at him for not bending the companies written rules for you?
That's like walking into a McDonald's expecting them to cook you a T-bone steak, with a baked potatoe and a beer for less than $10. It was never going to happen.
Don't stay mad at the kid who works there. Think ahead next time and go to a tire store that can do the type of work you need done.
