I agree with NCWayne, The Asheville area meets most of your 'wants'. I would avoid the Asheville proper area tho due it's location. It lies in an area that the air quality leaves a lot to be desired, it kinda lies in a valley with mtns. surrounding it. With the coal fired power plants in Eastern Tenn. & our weather usually coming from the West, it adds to the problem + not too far from A-ville in Canton, is a large wood pulp mill, have you ever smelled one of those? I live in NW South Carolina and love it but this area is turning into a golf yuppies paradise with several 'golfing' communities within 5 miles from my place. The 'golfing' communities homes usually start in the $500,000+ price range and this is driving my property taxes up. That said, I don't think I would happy living anywhere else. It's nice owning enough acreage to not have a neighbor in sight.
