Sorry to hear its hard for you! I struggle with parents that are suffering from age and dementia. We try to scale things down so they can enjoy without confusing but, then they feel cheated. All in all, I am thankful for calm, knowing that someday things will change and they will be gone. I have come to the conclusion that life is chaos, with periods of calm. One can only hope those calm periods are long.
