I don't know what the approved method is but I had no choice on an H I pulled out of a fence row. The tractor sat there for almost 20 years and water had leaked into the cylinders and sat there for who knows how long? I tried every concoction known to man and a few new ones and let it soak for over two years. Finally, one day as I was laying under the tractor "tapping on the piston", I saw movement. The movement was the piston and sleeve coming out as one unit. Maybe not the approved or recommended way but it worked for me. LOL.
