I want to clarify this a bit. This Federally-funded agency is run by the Otsego county office - called Opportunites for Otsego and Office for the Aged. It's one of the many agencies that is locally run but gets it's funding from the Federal government.

I own four houses. One here in NY where I live. Also a small cabin in the NY Adirondacks and two houses and a small farm in Northern Michigan.

That being said, my only full-time residence is here in central New York. My only driver's license is New York. All our vehicles have New York plates. The only place I can vote on local affairs is here in my home town in New York. The only place I get a full-time resident property tax exemption is here in central New York. I have house and property insurance on all our properties but the only one that charges a full-time residence rate is here in central New York.

The issue is proving my home is my main domicile. Every state in the USA allows only one residence to be claimed as such.

This is something I never thought much about before. Seems there is nothing that specifically states where someones full-time residence is EXCEPT Federal anti-terrorist ID which I already have. Seems it is usually established by a "preponderance of evidence."

I've been red-flagged for two reasons as far as I can tell. #1 is that I do not get mail here. #2 is the local assessor has written on our tax bill as our property being a "seasonal residence."

The mail not coming here is not our choice. The US Post Office claims our road is too rural and hazardous and refuses to come here. If we wanted, we could put up a mail box at our closest neigbor's house that is a 1/2 mile away and off the mountain. We took the free PO Box offer instead. Been that way for over 30 years.

In regard to this statement on the tax bill calling our home a "seasonal residence?" We've been here over 30 years and this house was never seasonal. But, before we bought it, it sat empty for over 50 years. That might be part of all this; I can't say for sure. When I called the County Real Property tax office - they agreed that I get the full-time resident tax exemption - but . . . the county is not allowed to omit the stupid "seasonal residence" statement. Seems the local town tax assessor is the only person authorized to do so. He's a part timer, lives 50 miles away, and has yet to ever answer a phone call.

What a mess!
