My petroleum jobber takes it and gives me a receipt. He sends it out to recycling, small refinery an hour or so away uses it for feed stock mixed in with crude oil. I buy engine and hydraulic oil in 55 gallon drums, use one empty drum for the waste oil. Initially I used a 55 gallon methanol barrel but now that Im going I always have at least one empty.
Im in the CSP progream with NRCS and recycling oil is one of the practices I signed up for as an incentive. I'd like to use some around here to oil wagon and trailer decks but they monitor my in and out so it has to be accounted for.
