If he knew he messed up in all the things he did, then he knew what he was doing was wrong, but he still did the crimes. Maybe I'm wrong, but I have a suspicion mommy and daddy bailed him out trouble too many times when he was a lad. Respect for other people's property was never taught to him and it sounds like the chances of it sinking in now are slim.
