My guess, he was having a problem, and didn't know how to fix it. I'd just give him some time. I used to supervise skilled trade repair guys, electricians and machine repair, mostly. I found that the defensive behavior came out when they were frustrated, and got embarassed. Some guys were just like that, they are so insecure that they get rattled easily. The best seem to have the attitude that if it was easy, anybody could do it. And finding a short in a electrical harness can be a pain.
