Secret to backing up a loaded wagon up a slope, is to use the available front end guard/hitch. Did it many times. Certainly can't complain about the reverse gear if you believe the old Waterloo two cylinders are OK. My 730's reverse gear is way too fast. I've also have a 430W and although a lot newer with more available options, isn't really better than the 8N. We used a loader on ours and without powersteering it was a little tough to maneuver, but when eight years old I certainly don't remember any problems steering the tractor when operating it alone in the field. It was a great tractor for small farms and also worked well as a second tractor for larger spreads.
