Here are some tests ran on two stroke diesels with straight vs. multi-weight oil.

I'm surprised at the difference, no wonder Detroit Diesel insisted on straight weight low ash oil. Is it because when the multi-weight additives are not in straight weight oil. There is more lube oil and lube additives to actually lubricate. I went out and bought straight CF-2 30wt Amsoil instead of 15W-40 Amsoil CF-2 for my tractor's 2-53 after seeing those results.
