Don, I had an older friend (now deceased) who had worked hard and also gotten a few good breaks in life. He was a real gentleman and owned a sizable acreage, nice shiney equipment, nice home and outbuildings etc. For some reason, he liked to come out here and mingle with the poor folks. Your mention of tractor tires reminded me of the time he stood staring at my old 630 JD with a flat rear tire. Finally he turned and very seriously asked me why I didn't put a set of new tires on the old tractor. It struck me funny, and I told him I simply couldn't afford it at the present time. He looked off in the distance for a few seconds and said, "I remember those days. It'll get better". And it has. I've still got the worn out 630, but it has new tires on it now. They're probably worth more than the tractor.
