I just bought a 2002 dodge ram 1500 pretty cheap because it needed some work. After driving it for a couple weeks the rear diff is making noise. The kid i bought it off of said he put a different rear diff in it. I come to relize it has the wrong gear ratio. It is 4wd and the front is a 3.92 and the rear is 3.55. my question is if i buy a 3.92 ring an pinion will it fit on the old carrier of the ring gear? I have ran into chevys that had different carriers in it.
