Had a fall a couple years ago and cracked my pelvis pretty bad. Doctors in Rochester said there was nothing they could do to fix it so my doctor came into my room the next day with his drill and bolt cutter. He drilled a whole through my knee and put this 3/8 rod through it. Cut it off with the stainless steel bolt cutter. He then tied ropes on each side of the knee and hung weights on the ropes with pulleys at the end of the bed. Idea was to take all the muscle pull off the pelvis and let it heal. 3 weeks later he came in and pulled the rod back out. and all was well after learning to walk again. Was a sight to watch someone drill a hole through your leg with a cordless drill.
