WAY O/T, for the ytmag brain trust

Found this setup in this home I purchased, and trying to figure out what it is. It appears like it could be a Brain Surgeons kit, since it has Silver, Brain Clips in it, and the hand drill, the burrs for the hand drill, and other related items. So, what is it?

I may know of a site where a doctor is a member . You could ask your question there . If you want , email me your addy & I can diret you . Those instruments are in fine condition . Maybe a new physician would be interested in them as a display in his office . That"s what a couple newly established doctors did here whe they built their new buildings . HTH ! God bless, Ken

Had a fall a couple years ago and cracked my pelvis pretty bad. Doctors in Rochester said there was nothing they could do to fix it so my doctor came into my room the next day with his drill and bolt cutter. He drilled a whole through my knee and put this 3/8 rod through it. Cut it off with the stainless steel bolt cutter. He then tied ropes on each side of the knee and hung weights on the ropes with pulleys at the end of the bed. Idea was to take all the muscle pull off the pelvis and let it heal. 3 weeks later he came in and pulled the rod back out. and all was well after learning to walk again. Was a sight to watch someone drill a hole through your leg with a cordless drill.

Neurosurgery for 22 years, this for both cranial and spinal procedures. Drills now for the most part are pneumatic, some old school suregons continue with the hand drill, especailly for cervical (neck) fusions.
