My first year of farming was 1974, my junior year in high school. Dad told me about some ground I could rent here next door in the Coralville Reservoir flood plain.
It had not been farm for a few years and would have to be plowed. So I hook the plow up to the 966 and go to plow it one Saturday early in the spring.
It was plenty wet and I got stuck a few times before I got the 30 acres plowed. Then it started raining and the reservoir just kept rising and covered my land. Water stayed over it till about the 1st of July.
By the time it dried out it was to late to plant. So my first year there was not any harvest.
