I just got back from the courthouse after watching the trial of the man who stole my 1996 John Deere Gator, our 3 month old 8 foot single-axle trailer, and a pressure washer. The jury found him guilty of misdemeanor larceny because they said that the crime was not a felony since the value of the stolen goods was not over $1000. My fathers testimony stated that the value of the Gator alone was $2000, and the trailer was worth at least $1000. The judge sentenced him for the maximum time - 4 months. This was his 17th conviction; the man is 26 years old.
