william, I too! agree with DeltaRed and rustyfarmall. First do a Compression test,1st time without adding any oil to the cylinders, 2nd time add oil and look at the difference in the compression #s. That should tell you most of what you need to know. weather the rings are bad or is it the valves. Hope this helps! Later, John A.
