Last night we got around a tenth of an inch of rain near Spokane. Other than that, I don't think we got any rain at all in August. But with our cold, wet Spring, we are still almost 2 inches above average in precip for this time of year.
We had the highest temperature of the year (so far) last Sunday, when it was 94 at the airport. Most years we get at least a few days of 100 degrees or more in August, but not this year.
My garden has not done very well--it was too cold and wet to plant in May, and then we still had frosts in mid June. We will probably not get any sweet corn, unless September is unusually hot. At our elevation, we usually get frost around the second or third week in September.
Some of the wheat has not been harvested yet around here. In June, a couple of farmers I talked to said that everything was about 6 weeks behind, due to the cold and wet Spring. The fields look good, but I haven't heard what the yields have been. I doubt that it will be great, but not too bad.
