Hi John I live near the Arrowhead Mall and yes it has been very hot and it looks like at least another week of it. I need to move some antique machinery Sat and bid call an auction today in a hot warehouse. But coming from Minnesota I certainly don't miss those winters. Lowell

Weatherman said this was the hottest August on record.

I would guess our average temp was around 107.

We"re real close to tying the most days at 100 or over.

Supposed to get a break next week. Cool front coming in, maybe a little rain and temps in the mid 90s all next week.

It was cool, here in western Washington- Low to mid 70's, don't know the exact number. But no measurable rain here in August.

Fall is coming- mid 40's last night, had to turn on the heat at the office this morning for the first time since spring.

Broke the 1980 record for consecutive hottest days in Oklahoma. Next week it's supposed to be cold with temps in the 80's :)

I live about 4 miles north of Lowell on 67th ave and I can vouch for the hot here. This is the first summer the heat has really bothered me.

(quoted from post at 23:23:07 09/01/11) Is that actually frost? How far north you live?
hat would be frost, I live 200 miles north west of edmonton alberta. It has been a cold and wet summer here

We had one of the hottest Augusts on record. Not sure if we broke the record or not for number of 90+ degree days. This week it has been in the 80s with low humidity, feels good for a change.

Last night we got around a tenth of an inch of rain near Spokane. Other than that, I don't think we got any rain at all in August. But with our cold, wet Spring, we are still almost 2 inches above average in precip for this time of year.

We had the highest temperature of the year (so far) last Sunday, when it was 94 at the airport. Most years we get at least a few days of 100 degrees or more in August, but not this year.

My garden has not done very well--it was too cold and wet to plant in May, and then we still had frosts in mid June. We will probably not get any sweet corn, unless September is unusually hot. At our elevation, we usually get frost around the second or third week in September.

Some of the wheat has not been harvested yet around here. In June, a couple of farmers I talked to said that everything was about 6 weeks behind, due to the cold and wet Spring. The fields look good, but I haven't heard what the yields have been. I doubt that it will be great, but not too bad.

Funny year!
