Hi Dave, the IH 253 tractor has a 4 speed gearbox and a high/low/reverse gearbox. When the tractor is operated in high or low range the Agrimatic system gives you a change on the move high and low gear doubling the gears to 16. When you put the range lever into reverse mooving the Agrimatic lever backwards and forwards gives you a F/R movement without pressing the clutch pedal. When using the PTO shaft putting the Agrimatic lever in nutral will stop the tractor but the PTO will keep turning until you press the clutch pedal. MJ
