Well, that's certainly understandable as your truck has a Voltmeter, NOT an ammeter!
Have you had dead battery or weak headlight issues? (I'm guessing NOT.) In other words you are imagining there's a problem where none exists!
That being said, GM is FAMOUS for inaccurate gauges and/or poor instrument panel grounds.
When you turn headlight on,, poor instrument panel grounding allows the ground reference used by the voltmeter to drift "above" true ground, making Voltmeter using that as a reference read low.
