Scotty ever been to Walter Reed? The place is enormous! 3-4 times the size that a modren hospital would require to treat the smae number of people and have the same number of beds. The sheer size requires a larger staff and cost a great deal of money just to maintain. This is a problem VA faces all over the country. They have facilities that in a sense have been replaced and now have many under used buildings. But let someone say that they don't need those buildings and they are terrible people. Yet those unused buildings are costing the VA and the US taxpayers over 4 million a year to maintain. VA has ask to be allowed to sell them off but every time Vet groups and the news folks see it as an effort to short change the Vet. In fact the VFW and American Legion both assure members that they are fighting for the Vet when they raise hob about VA selling unused facilities. It's a gimmic to increase dues paying members for them and it sells news for the media.
