was all happy that my leaks were all fixed. Wife was quiet because no spots in the driveway.........
rear main is leaking again. Not bad but a nuisance. The kid that replaced the rear main said that because the seals were graphite rings and not rubber that getting one to stop leaking is like playing the lottery. Said there is play in the crankshaft and when the motor is worked real hard (running the baler) that there would be leaks that may or may not go away after it rests awhile. Local tractor/equipment repair shop confirmed it and said the only thing that may fix the problem is turning the crank and replacing all bearings but the engines are prone to the rear main leak.
Sound right? It's not leaking bad and runs real good. Think I can buy a bunch of oil for the cost of the repairs.
Think there is a chance of getting a new graphite seal and matching it with a rubber ring from something else?
Thinking to just clean everything up and hang a pan under it that I can wipe out now and then. That'll keep the treehuggers happy and it'll take a long time to go thru 10 bucks worth of oil.
