Take off motor cover on that end take off nut might be a bolt there holding the starter pulley on the flywheel is on a tapered shaft you may be able to see down the key way to see if it may be out of alignment. either way if a broken rod engine will have to be removed. If I had an Idea what year your machine was built I could maybe find more info from similar tractors of that era. I do have a source of info but cannot post it here I got bleeped the last time I did it.
