Depending on how bad the bushing is worn it may occasionnally miss or run like a three legged dog. You can check for a worn bushing by rotating the engine til the points close than pushing radially (from the side) in several locations around the shaft, watch the points. They should not move. If you put a dial gauge on the shaft, the shaft should not move more than 0.002".
The other posters have told you how easy it is to replace the distributor once it"s removed provided you don"t rotate the engine. if you do, you"ll have to static time the engine to get it started.Let us know if you have problems and we can walk you through that.
