Not hard to do if you do it correctly hard if you do not. You need to get #1 cylinder at TDC pull the distributor cap off and note where the rotor is pointing. You install the new distributor so the rotor points to the same place when you install the new one but why throw parts at it before you check things. First thing to check is point gap on all 4 lobes of the distributor and make sure they are very close. If they are close then it could be a bad distributor cap or rotor or both or many other simple small problems
