Land is in SW Virginia, near the Kentucky border, family member has 15 acres that had some decent fescue on it last year. When they went to look it over for cutting (they live a ways away) the field was overtaken with these yellow flowers- the stem is woody and the plants stand 3 feet tall or higher, crowding out the grass, then it branches out with limbs supporting the flowers which are 2 to 3" across, and resemble dasies. I did a quit internet search but could not find a match. No, I don't have a picture unfortunately.
I did see some other fields in this area and in north east Tennesee with this growing in it. What is it? Looks like the first cutting won't be as good as thought.
