I was pulling a few trees a couple of weeks ago with my Massey 97 fwa, just used a chain and applied some strain until they begang moving then just gently pulled them the last couple of inches. This really did challenge the old thing (wheel grip that is even in 4x4)she was fine on power. I had already tried my modern International 784 but she just stood looking at the trees with her wheel spinning. Anyway what I wondered was how good were these MF 97 tractors in the day either as two or four wheel drive. I have been to a couple of tractor pulls when visiting the US and seem to remember things like JD830 being almost unstopable. How did the MF compare with the JD or even the Case 930. What other models would out pull the 97? As I said just interested.
