Window and door sills, 3/4" beyond plank underlayment. One layer of 1/2" pine clapboard for 110 years, no worries. Tear old clap board off. Have 3/4 inch once again, just as day house was framed. Pull all old nails, take shovel and make sure surface of board clean and flat. Place 2 inch foam in place. Secure in place. Add 1/2" vinal clapboard. 2+1/2-3/4= 1 3/4" J channel needed around every door and window sill, they don't make it, hench 'engineer a substitute'.... As discribed in a post above....
