I have had 3 jeeps with the 4.0 engine and have had no problems 200,000 plus miles. HOWEVER I have a 4.7 V-8 and the engine went at 133, 000 miles.
The 4.7 had a sludge problem, (lots of info on this). The sludge blocks the oil pump pickup screen and the engine starves from not enough oil. It doesn't matter what brand of oil was used it would still sludge up.
