some of the newer lawn mowers have fuel pumps mine does they can urge from that also no battery no fuel i found that out also the hard way was mowing along and it started to surge and quit all together . i ended up with new battery to keep it going i didnt know that but parts man at parts store said yes happens alot go figure my lawn tractor is a sears 3000 series a few yrs old not a bad mower but wish it was a john deere and not the lumber yard deeres either the john deere deere mowers alot of difference hope this helps you.good luck
