One thing you might check if you haven't done so is the air cleaner. I got one in the other day that the guy said had smoked then all at once stop smoking and I checked the oil and it was very low. I fill the oil back up and figured since they ran it that way maybe I should check the air cleaner and it was so bad that when I tapped it on the front tire the dust fill the treads on the tire and then some and that will cause one to surge
