Hi Blaine. I have a Ramsey REP 8000 on my trailer, wouldn't want a smaller one. This one doesn't have much more amperage draw than their smaller ones but a lot more power. I bought it a few years ago at the Northern store in Des Moines but they don't have it in the store anymore. I did a lot of looking and thought that was all the winch I would need and it wasn't much more money than a smaller one. I only have a 7000 GVW Mac-Lander trailer. That model also came with the roler fairlead, don't get the friction one or what ever they call it. Get the roler one. I also splurged and got the Ramsey mounting plate to mount it with. It is a heavy u channel with a place on the front to mount the fairlead. It all bolts to it, keeps everything square and lined up. Sure glad I used it, for me well worth the price. I had to go to Cliffs Truck Equipment to get it, had to order it. I mounted mine on two 6" channel irons across the tongue just in front of thr bed. I made a battery mount at the right side of winch. It is small angle iron with plates across the bottom. It holds one of those plastic boat-RV battery boxes. It added sme tongue weight but it worked ror my situation. It sure beets that come along. That model has lots of power if the battery is good. Get a big RV deep cycle one. The two hardest pulls were, I Loaded my 82 Dodge D150 after sitting for 5 years, sunk in and tires low.It grunted but did it. 52 Case VAC i bought in nothern Michigan. Sandy ground up there. Had to drag it a ways to get it to trailer. It was sitting in a garage,it burned down. Tires burned off, wheels wouldn't turn, had to drag it all the way. The stearing wouldn't turn, wheels were turned a little. Part of the way the guy was behind it pushing in reverse up the ramps till he spun out. The battery wasn't the best, need a new one. It is a Sears DieHard and there are higher amp batteries. It comes with 90' of cable. It has long leads on the controller. If you want to spend the money, they have a wireless remote controller. Thanks for the info on the Wards tractor. Good luck. Charley.

Today's Featured Article - Tractor Traction - by Chris Pratt. Our first bout with traction problems came when cultivatin with our Massey-Harris Pony. Up till then, this tractor had been running a corn grinder and pulling a trailer. It had new unfilled rear tires and no wheel weights. The garden was already sprouting when we hooked up the mid-mount shovel cultivators to the Pony. The seed bed was soft enough that the rear end would spin and slowly work its way to the downhill side of the gardens slight incline. From this, we learned our lesson sinc ... [Read Article]
