Tom.........You're not a gonna like what I'ma gonna tell ya' but here goes. That "whatchamacallit" is one of the lower link pins and is a tapered shaft held in by a cotter keyed castelated nut, accessable from only inside the axle trumpet. And if they are not "tight" they'll leak hydraulic/tranny fluid on your nice new paint job. Don't ask me how they get loose, but they do. Sometimes you can grab on backside with a long nose vicegrip, sometimes you can heat the nut enuff to break the rust seal, sometimes ya haffa get mean and use a cuttin' torch and replace the pin later. The only "cure" is to remove one of axle trumpets, (I think the l/h trumpet is eazist) and you'll have access to both link pins and honk down on 'em about 150 ft/lbs and don't back off to make the cotter key fit, honk more. Sometimes the socket gets "wallered out" and some N-Board members have reported success using "J&B Weld" to seal 'em. Hope this helps.......Dell
